It’s pretty difficult to know how to measure things sometimes, each country seems to have a different way of measuring weight, temperature, volume etc. So here’s a simple conversion for most recipes just to keep you sweet.

4oz = 125g = 1/4lb
5oz = 155g

7oz = 220g

9oz = 280g
10oz = 315g
11oz = 345g
12oz = 375g
13oz = 410g
14oz = 440g
15oz = 470g
16oz = 500g = 1lb = 1/2kg
24oz = 750g = 1 1/2lb
32oz = 2lb = 1000g = 1kg

SIZES:
1/2″ = 1.25cm
1″ = 2.5cm
6″ = 15cm
8″ = 20cm
9″ = 22.5cm
10″ = 25cm
12″ = 30cm = 1ft

VOLUMES:
1 teaspoon = 0.2fl oz = 5ml
1 tablespoon (Australia) = 0.6fl oz = 20ml
1 tablespoon (USA, UK) = 0.5fl oz = 15ml
6 teaspoons = 1fl oz = 30ml
1 cup = 8fl oz = 240ml
1 pint (UK) = 20fl oz = 575ml = 2 1/3 cups
1 pint (USA) = 16 fl oz = 480ml = 2 cups
1 litre = 33fl oz = 1000ml = 4 cups

TEMPERATURES:
225ºf = 110ºc = Gas1/4 = “very cool”
250ºf = 120ºc = Gas1/2 = “cool”
275ºf = 135ºc = Gas1 = “slow”
300ºf = 150ºc = Gas2 = “moderately slow”
325ºf = 165ºc = Gas3 = “warm”
350ºf = 165ºc = Gas4 = “moderate”
375ºf = 190ºc = Gas5 = “moderately hot”
400ºf = 200ºc = Gas6 = “fairly hot”
425ºf = 220ºc = Gas7 = “hot”
